Africa-Press – Gambia. President Adama Barrow has dismissed the Director of the Gambia Maritime Administration and implemented a major reshuffle in the country’s foreign service, effective Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Exercising his authority under the Gambia Maritime Administration Act of 2006, President Barrow relieved Karamo Janneh of his duties and appointed Olimatou Danso as the new Director of the Gambia Maritime Administration.
In a parallel move affecting the diplomatic corps, the president redeployed Ambassador Foday Malang from his post in Qatar to serve as The Gambia’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco. Simultaneously, Ambassador Omar Jah, previously stationed in Morocco, has been reassigned as The Gambia’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar.
According to a government statement, these changes are part of broader efforts to strengthen The Gambia’s diplomatic presence and enhance bilateral relations with strategic partner countries.
“The Government of The Gambia remains committed to ensuring efficiency, professionalism, and accountability in the administration of public institutions and the delivery of public services,” the government stated.
