Barrow Urges Basse Jimara Residents to Support Re-Election

Africa-Press – Gambia. President Adama Barrow has called on residents of the Basse and Jimara constituencies to actively participate in the upcoming supplementary voter registration exercise, stressing that their participation is essential to securing his re-election.

Addressing a joint meeting in Sanunding village, President Barrow encouraged eligible voters to obtain their voter cards and turn out on election day. “If you want this work to continue, voter registration is coming up. Go get registered and have voter cards, and on election day, vote for this government so we can continue working until 2031,” he said.

Responding to concerns from some villagers about the distance to their polling stations, the president reminded them that elections occur only once every five years. He urged them to make the necessary effort, noting that many Gambians abroad travel long distances to register and vote.

“People come all the way from America to get voter cards, go back, and return again during elections to vote. For you, your polling station is at the corner of your village, and you say it is far,” Barrow remarked.

President Barrow emphasized that voter cards represent citizens’ power and civic voice, describing them as “their bullets” in a democratic process. He reiterated that his continuation in office ultimately depends on the people’s decision at the polls.

“If President Barrow continues, it is because you voted. If you do not vote, President Barrow will not continue. So before that, vote,” he urged.
