Africa-Press – Gambia. The Boosting Gambian Talents (BGT) Project, in a bid to intensify efforts towards strengthening mobility and entrepreneurship, yesterday organised a workshop aimed at fostering partnerships for greater impact and sustainable change in The Gambia.

The event, held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Conference Center, brought together key stakeholders for a workshop aimed at co-creating the project’s “Theory of Change,” which will guide its strategic direction.

In her opening remarks, Rafaella Grecco Tonegutti, Coordinator of the Human Mobility Team, underscored the importance of the workshop in enhancing the governance of mobility in The Gambia.

She said the technical session seeks to connect two vital ecosystems, mobility and entrepreneurship, at both national and global levels. “It’s not by chance that we wanted to make this connection. We hope this partnership remains strong as we continue to celebrate and discuss entrepreneurship and mobility in the years ahead,” she stated.

Ms. Fatou Kinda Jobe, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), emphasized the significance of the European Union’s continued partnership through the Flexible Mechanism for Migration, as well as Enabel the Belgian Development Agency for its collaboration with national institutions such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment, and the Ministry of Forestry and the Environment.

“The Boosting Gambian Talents initiative contributes greatly to our national goals by promoting entrepreneurship as a reliable path to economic empowerment,” she said. “It strengthens our diaspora as partners in innovation and investment, aligning with national priorities through cooperation among stakeholders.”

She added that ongoing collaboration with the EU, Enabel, and other partners continues to yield major milestones, particularly in migration and sustainable development.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment, Permanent Secretary Abdoulie Jallow said the project aligns closely with the Ministry’s programs on economic empowerment.

“Our efforts under this project will support the government in creating a viable and sustainable economy,” Jallow said. “Today’s Theory of Change workshop is not merely a planning exercise, but a foundation for continued progress.”

He encouraged all participants to maintain their engagement beyond the event. “Your expertise across various sectors is invaluable in shaping a framework that reflects our national realities. This collaboration should remain sustainable, and the lessons learned should feed into national programs,” he concluded.
