Africa-Press – Gambia. Brikama’s male and female basketball teams received a boost on Wednesday evening when former player Muhammed Sanyang donated playing equipment, including jerseys and 18 pairs of sneakers.
The presentation ceremony took place at the Brikama Basketball Court.
Speaking at the event, Sanyang stressed the importance of giving back to the community. “During my time with the Brikama Basketball team, we struggled to get these kinds of items. That’s why I felt the need to support the upcoming players,” he said.
“My advice to everyone is to prioritise giving back, especially in ways that empower youth. I will continue to support these teams whenever I can.”
Yusupha Ceesay, President of the Brikama Basketball Association, expressed deep appreciation for the gesture. “This will go a long way in supporting basketball development in Brikama,” he said, while urging other philanthropists to do the same.
Team representatives Ya Binta Manga (female team captain) and Sheikh Malain (male player) both assured the donor that the items would be put to good use.
