Africa-Press – Gambia. The Brikama Sports Committee (BSC) on Saturday kicked off its qualifiers for the Summer Nawettan proper. A whopping 76 teams registered for the eliminations, with seven spots available to be claimed.
The BSC increased the number of participating teams in the Summer Nawettan proper from 32 to 40.
In the 8 a.m. fixture between Borderline FC and Niro Legacy FA, the former triumphed 3-2 in a post-match shootout after regulation time failed to produce a winner. This result ended Niro Legacy’s hopes of advancing to the next stage of the competition.
Jamwelly FC also booked a place in the second round of qualifiers following their win over Badi FC. This game was also decided on penalties, with a 5-4 shootout victory in the 3 p.m. fixture.
The day’s only match settled in regulation time saw Dangote FC beat Starlight FC by a lone goal.
On Sunday’s fixture, Thunder Light FC lit up the ground with a commanding 4-1 thrashing of Portmore FC in the 9 a.m. game, sealing their qualification for the second round.
