Africa-Press – Gambia. Bakoteh United Football Academy (BUFA) were on Sunday crowned champions of the QCell-sponsored Manja Sports Association (MSA) summer Nawettan league after defeating Bundas FC in a dramatic penalty shootout at the Fatou Gough Sports Complex.
The final produced an intense contest as both sides displayed strong defensive discipline and high energy in their bid to secure the title. Despite creating several scoring opportunities, neither team managed to break the deadlock during regulation time.
BUFA’s Sakieu Goode missed an early chance to put his side ahead, while Bundas’ Ousman Jawo also failed to convert from a well-delivered corner kick by Babou Joof. The second half saw both teams increase pressure, earning multiple corners, but poor finishing kept the match goalless.
With the stalemate unchanged at full time, the title was decided on penalties, where BUFA triumphed 5–4 to lift the coveted trophy.
As champions, BUFA received medals, a trophy and a cash prize of D75,000. Runners-up Bundas FC went home with a consolation prize of D50,000.
