CAF president highlights Morocco's success in Qatar World Cup

Africa-Press – Gambia. The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the South African Patrice Motsepe, highlighted this Thursday, in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), the success achieved by the Morocco national team in the World Cup played in 2022, in Qatar.

This recognition was manifested during the 45th General Assembly of CAF, held in the Ivorian capital.

“We are excited and proud of the historic achievements at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 by Morocco, as well as Senegal, Cameroon, Tunisia and Ghana. Morocco’s qualification for the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 was the first achievement of its kind by an African nation” – said Patrice Motsepe.

According to the CAF official, this achievement reflects the significant improvement in the global competitiveness of African football, as well as giving confidence that the main objective of ensuring that an African nation wins the FIFA World Cup is within reach.

“We have always believed that the success and growth of football on the African continent depends on the success and growth of football in each member country” – he stressed.

He informed, on the other hand, that partnerships are being made with sponsors, investors and governments so that there is competitiveness and growth of football in each African country.

He also said that the increase in monetary prizes had led to growth and greater quality in the main CAF competitions in the last two years.

The event was attended by an Angolan delegation headed by the president of the Federation (FAF), Artur Almeida e Silva, also integrated by the general secretary, Fernando Rui Costa, and by the second vice president, Paulo Neto.
