Africa-Press – Gambia. Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information, Media, and Broadcasting Services, has criticized Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda and his associates during an interview with Senegalese media, citing concerns over poor sanitation within the Kanifing Municipality.
Although he did not mention names directly, Dr. Ceesay said some young politicians—including a sitting mayor—are seeking the presidency despite lacking the necessary experience to govern. He argued that the mayor’s municipality is smaller than Guédiawaye in Senegal, yet he struggles to maintain cleanliness, raising doubts about his capability to manage a national government.
“All those around him have never worked in government, and they have no experience—they are a danger to the subregion. They don’t understand the security complexity of the subregion and the Sahel,” the minister remarked.
Dr. Ceesay further accused the mayor of betraying his political party, the United Democratic Party (UDP), adding that he has failed to maintain cleanliness in Serrekunda. He questioned why such a person should be entrusted with leading the country.
