Africa-Press – Gambia. The Central Bank of The Gambia last Friday presented four desktops and two laptops to the Gambia Postal Corporation Services for an improved digital operation for customers , nationally and internationally across the global world.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at Gampost headquarters in Banjul , the first deputy Governor of the Central Bank of The Gambia, Dr. Abdoulie S. Jallow disclosed that the state’s central bank’s aim is to support digital financial institutions for an improved service delivery across all sectors.
Central bank deputy Governor Jallow said that in an era where the digital economy is rapidly shaping economies ,the state central bank also is ensuring that our public institutions are adequately equipped with modern technology which according to him is imperative.
Jallow stressed that the donation was part of the bank’s broader cooperation social responsibility , adding that one of the central bank’s vision is to support digital financial institutions and improve service delivery across all sectors.
The deputy of the state’s central, Jallow said that Gampost can use the donated electrical equipment to enhance efficiency and improve customer service , stating that Gampost now has the capacity to expand its role in financial services through money transfers and payment facilitations.”This donation is in line with our digital economy”, Deputy Governor Jallow said.
The Managing Director of Gampost , Lamin Cham ,in his appreciation of the goodwill gesture of the central bank, promised to put in the donated desktops and laptops as he promised that they will put in ”every effort to ensure that Gampost is transformed digitally”.
”The central bank who happens to hold the chairmanship of Gampost board of directors has come to our aid today ,to help us move faster with our digital transformation and as a board chairperson together with the board member ,they have given us with very good directives, strategic direction that can help us transform this institution,and it cannot be transformed with digitalization”, Cham said.
According to Cham , the postal industry has become a global industry and we all operate interconnectedly
Gampost DG,Cham stated that the donated desktops and laptops will propel its growth for better delivery of services in the international world.
