CG Darboe Urges GRA Graduates to Uphold Service Ideals

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Commissioner General of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), Yankuba Darboe, has called on GRA staff to embody the highest ideals of public service, including discipline, integrity, and respect for lawful authority.

He made the remarks at a graduation ceremony for staff and facilitators who completed a two-month training at the Gambia Armed Forces Training School.

“To the graduating batch, your achievement today is just the beginning,” CG Darboe told the attendees. “Let this training reflect in your daily work and become the foundation upon which you build long and impactful careers at the GRA.”

A total of 57 regular staff and 6 facilitators successfully completed the intensive program. According to Darboe, the training marks a significant milestone in the Authority’s pursuit of institutional excellence.

“This training was designed not only to test your limits but to mold you into more disciplined, resilient, and mission-ready professionals,” he said.

The GRA boss commended the instructors for their dedication and professionalism, including the drill and weapons instructors as well as the martial arts trainers. He expressed the Authority’s gratitude to the leadership of the Gambia Armed Forces, particularly the Chief of Defense Staff, Lieutenant General Mamat O. Cham, whose support he said was instrumental to the program’s success.

“I expect you to carry forward the principles and values learnt during this training. Strive every day to exceed expectations and be exemplary ambassadors of the Gambia Armed Forces Training School,” he said.

He further urged graduates to uphold workplace hierarchy and lawful authority, and to allow the training to guide their actions and decision-making processes.

“Be functional, be professional, and be exemplary in all that you do. The lofty ideals of an officer integrity, discipline, respect, and dedication must remain your guiding light,” CG Darboe added.

The ceremony marked another step in the GRA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism and discipline among its workforce through strategic partnerships and institutional capacity building.
