Africa-Press – Gambia. On 6th November, the Chinese Medical Team in The Gambia, together with the main Chinese diaspora associations in The Gambia — the Chinese Residents Association in The Gambia(CRA-Gambia), and the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification in The Gambia(CHINAREUNITE-Gambia) , jointly organised a charity event at the SoS Children’s Village. The event received support from the Confucius Institute at the University of The Gambia, and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in The Gambia.
Representatives of the Chinese community actively participated in the event, bringing care and warmth to the children of the orphanage. School stationery, footballs, rice, cooking oil, and other daily necessities, worth of one hundred and twenty thousand dalasis were donated. The Chinese Medical Team provided free health check-ups and basic medical consultations for the children.
This event is a reflection of care and love from the Chinese diaspora in The Gambia to communities particularly children of the country. It is also a demonstration of the friendship between the People’s Republic of China and The Republic of the Gambia.
Organisers from CRA-Gambia and CHINAREUNITE-Gambia call on the Chinese diaspora in the Gambia to join them in working together to safeguard common interests, promote mutual development, saying that doors of the associations are always open, and that they will, as always, try to provide community support with their resources and expertise in The Gambia.
