Africa-Press – Gambia. Colley Stars bounced back from their previous defeat to Wallidan with a 2-0 victory over Menmar Banjul United at the Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum.
Lamin Colley opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a looping header at the back post. He later provided the assist for the second goal after running past a defender and setting up Bakary Sanyang, who finished from close range to seal the win.
Menmar Banjul United enjoyed more possession and created several chances, but Colley Stars defended resolutely and proved more clinical in front of goal.
At the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama, Gunjur United secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Sibanor United. Ansumana Daffeh converted a first-half penalty to hand his side their third win of the season.
RS Tallinding also claimed maximum points with a 3-0 win to move to 18 points on the standings. Captain Modou Lamin Sallah scored twice, while Kebba Sanneh added the third as the Tallinding-based side recovered from their recent defeat to Baalor Sarr.
In Bakau, Elite United defeated Wallidan 2-0, with Babucarr Charty and Pierie Tamba scoring in either half to secure the victory.
Wagadu and North Star played to a 2-2 draw at the Live Your Dreams Academy Field in Basori. Kutubo Dibba gave Wagadu the lead in the 22nd minute, but North Star responded through Alieu Dibba’s free-kick before Folomo Beavogui put the visitors ahead before half-time. Kutubo Dibba netted his second goal in the 52nd minute to ensure a share of the spoils.
Fixtures continue on Wednesday with Unique Global facing Suwo Kono at the Ousman Saho Football Field. AJ Soccer will host Baalor Sarr in Soma, while Serrekunda United take on Kanifing East at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium. Marimoo Pakfood will also meet Gambia Armed Forces at the Bakau Mini Stadium.
