Africa-Press – Gambia. The continuation of Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda’s testimony before the Local Government Commission of Inquiry has been postponed, pending the official gazetting of the commission’s mandate extension.
The commission’s initial mandate ended on August 31st, 2025. According to sources, while the line ministry has approved an extension, formal gazetting from the President is still awaited. Mayor Bensouda’s testimony had been scheduled to resume on Tuesday, 2 September 2025.
The commission is tasked with investigating the financial and administrative conduct of local government councils covering the period from May 2018 to January 2023.
The Mayor is expected to appear on Wednesday, September 3rd 2025.
