Copg Urges Informed Voting for 2026 Elections

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Coalition for Progressive Gambians (CoPG) has urged voters to exercise caution and independence ahead of the 2026 presidential elections, warning against exchanging votes for short-term inducements.

Speaking to The Voice, CoPG PRO Lamin Bojang described the vote as citizens’ most powerful democratic tool and criticised the distribution of food items during election periods as unsustainable.

“Your vote must not be for sale,” he said, urging voters to choose leaders based on competence and integrity.

Bojang also dismissed claims that opposition parties cannot deliver development, noting that incumbents benefit from access to state resources.

He further linked the rise in irregular migration to economic hardship and youth unemployment, warning that uninformed voting could prolong the country’s challenges.
