Africa-Press – Gambia. An official coroner’s inquest has confirmed that General Bora Colley, who passed away on March 9, 2025, died of natural causes linked to chronic medical conditions.
The findings were detailed in a report compiled by His Worship Dawda Phathy and, at the direction of the Honourable Chief Justice Hassan J. Jallow, submitted to the Attorney General by Abdou Conteh, the Judicial Secretary. The report dated May 5th 2025, concluded that there was no evidence of foul play, mistreatment, or any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of General Colley.
Chief Justice Jallow, upon examining the proceedings under Section 10(1) of the Coroner’s Act (Cap 7:04, Laws of The Gambia), affirmed that the coroner’s verdict was both legally sound and procedurally correct.
In a directive aimed at transparency and proper dissemination of information, the Chief Justice requested that the coroner’s findings be shared with the Ministry of Defense, the Office of the Chief of Defense Staff, and the late General’s next of kin.
The official correspondence, signed by Judicial Secretary Abdou Conteh and bearing the seal of the Judiciary of The Gambia, brings closure to questions surrounding the circumstances of General Colley’s passing.
