Africa-Press – Gambia. Principal Magistrate Isatou Dabo of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court has urged the prosecution office in the ongoing drug trafficking case involving Amidu Kujabi, an alleged drug trafficker, to ask relevant questions to prove his pieces of evidence beyond reasonable doubt and told him to avoid asking irrelevant questions that will water-down his proof in the case before the court.
However, Amidou Kujabi is on trial for being in possession of prohibited drugs for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 43 (4) E of the Drug control Act 2003, a charge he has pleaded not guilty.
According to the particular of his offence filed Amidou Kujabi on the 1st July 2021 at New Yundum Village in West Coast Region had in his possession 22kilograms and 850grams of cannabis Sativa a prohibited drug, thereby committed an offence.
Nuha F. Korta , the Prosecuting Officer said the accused hired a vehicle and stuffed the prohibited drug in bags of charcoal for smuggling but the accused denied the ownership of the suspected drug saying it belongs to the driver .
The prosecution officer put it to him that it is due to his (accused) confession of the ownership of the suspected drug that led to his hand curved and detention but the accused responded in negative. He said he was compelled to acknowledge the ownership of the suspected drug and he was also force to sign the weighing certificate of the suspected drug.
Meanwhile, the case is been adjourned to the 28th September 2022 for continuation.
