Africa-Press – Gambia. The Drug Law Enforcement Agency of The Gambia (DLEAG) has arrested several individuals across the country in connection with various narcotics-related offences.
In a statement published on its official Facebook page, DLEAG reported that 31-year-old Bubacarr Tamba, a driver residing in Kanilai, was arrested on November 8, 2025, at the outskirts of Mayork with 46 bundles of suspected cannabis sativa. The drugs were reportedly concealed in cement papers and placed inside an empty white and blue flour bag. Officers also recovered a black, unregistered motorcycle believed to be linked to the case.
In a separate operation, DLEAG apprehended 30-year-old Dawda Said, a welder from Gunjur, found in possession of 28 pieces of suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk) and 35 ecstasy pills, which were concealed in a transparent plastic bag.
The agency further revealed that on November 7, 2025, 40-year-old Sang E. Mendy, a teacher from Kassa Kunda village, was arrested for allegedly cultivating a suspected cannabis plantation in the backyard of his residence.
On the same day, 67-year-old Borry Barry, a farmer from Darsilameh Seca Village, was arrested around 6:20 a.m. after officers discovered 19 suspected cannabis plants being grown behind his home.
Other arrests include 23-year-old Bubacarr Sabally of Brikama Misera, who was found with 31 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa and 27 ecstasy pills concealed in paper, foil, and nylon bags, and 22-year-old Amadou Wury Sowe of Coastal Road, found with 36 pieces of suspected cannabis resin (hashish) hidden in plastic bags.
Additionally, DLEAG officers arrested 24-year-old Karamo Manneh, a driver from Bafuloto, with 57 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa, and 18-year-old Baba Galleh Conteh, also from Bafuloto, with seven wraps and other quantities of suspected cannabis sativa.
“All the suspects are currently in custody as investigations into their respective cases continue,” DLEAG confirmed.
