Dr. Ceesay Criticizes Opposition for Lack of Vision at Citizens’ Alliance Congress

Africa-Press – Gambia. Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, leader of the Citizens’ Alliance (CA), delivered a sharp rebuke of the country’s opposition parties on Saturday, accusing them of lacking the vision and unity necessary to govern effectively.

Speaking at the party’s 2025 National Congress held in Soma, Lower River Region, Dr. Ceesay urged Gambians to be cautious about entrusting the country’s future to parties he described as divided and ill-prepared.

‎”Do not listen to the opposition,” he said. “They have no vision, their thinking capacity is low, and they are not united. If you entrust a country to people like that it will lead to disaster.”

Dr. Ceesay framed the political landscape as a binary choice, declaring that citizens must decide whether to align with the Citizens’ Alliance and its coalition partners or with the opposition. He reaffirmed his party’s commitment to maintaining its coalition through the 2026 election.‎

“I have said this before, and some people insulted me for it,” he noted. “But I repeat: by 12:00 noon on election day in 2026, I have no doubt about the outcome.”

‎Pointing to what he described as early signs of momentum, Dr. Ceesay cited the NPP’s victory in the recent Half-Die ward by-election in Banjul as evidence that victory has already begun.
