Africa-Press – Gambia. The Secretary General of Gambia Farmers’ Union, Modou Njie, who is part of the ongoing “Meet the People’s Tour” caravan, has expressed satisfaction with the way farmers’ concerns are being addressed during the nationwide engagement.

In a WhatsApp audio shared with this medium, Mr. Njie commended the tour protocol for providing an open and respectful environment where farmers can freely raise issues affecting their livelihoods.

“I am happy that farmers are given the chance to express their opinion without fear,” he said.

Mr. Njie stressed that the involvement of farmers in national conversations is crucial for meeting the country’s long-term agricultural objectives.

“As farmers, we are involved, and that is key towards achieving food self-sufficiency,” he added.

He further praised the government for its continued support of the sector, particularly in ensuring that farmers have access to quality inputs.

“We want to thank the government for providing us with top-quality fertilizer, and it is also available everywhere,” he noted.

Mr. Njie’s remarks come as the tour continues to engage communities across the country, with agriculture remaining a central issue raised by citizens.
