Africa-Press – Gambia. The FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, says he will ask all member countries of the organization to baptize at least one stadium with the name of Pelé, in homage to the “King” of world football, who died on Thursday (29) ), due to illness, at the age of 82.
“I believe that future generations should know who Pelé was and the joy he brought to the world. (…) so that 20, 30, 50, 100 years from now, in any country in the world, when goals are scored at Pelé stadium, people will ask “who was this Pelé?”, said Gianni Infantino.
On the other hand, the National Identification Registry of Peru (Reniec) published the list of names chosen for children born last year, and according to the list, the name of the football king was an inspiration and reference for Peruvian parents.
Of these, 657 children were registered as Pele and another 19 as Pelé. 13 babies named Rey Pelé. 48 were registered as Edson Arantes. Only 1 received the full name: Edson Arantes do Nascimento.
Ronaldo was the parents’ favorite name in 2022. The name was chosen for 30,485 children

Pele underwent surgery in September last year and has been undergoing repeated rounds of chemotherapy ever since. This year, metastases were identified in the intestine, lung and liver.
Due to his advanced age and treatment, the King of Football’s public appearances have become less and less frequent in recent years.
Pelé was buried yesterday (the 3rd) at the Ecumenical Necrópole Memorial, which began to be built in the Marapé neighborhood in 1983 and since 1991 has been included in the Guinness Book of Records for being the highest vertical cemetery in the world, overlooking the Vila Belmiro stadium.
The Brazilian star chose to be buried there and 20 years ago bought a space to place the coffin on the ninth floor (there are 14 in total), where his father Dondinho (died in 1996) and brother Zoca (deceased in 2020) are buried, already that conveyed “spiritual peace and tranquility”, he clarified, at the time, in an interview with the newspaper Tribuna.
Pelé’s family, however, decided that he should be buried in the mausoleum located on the first floor. The space will be opened for visits in the next few days, but the administration has not yet defined the dates.
Pelé was the best representation of what the Brazilian team is all about: brilliant football, goals and many titles. The history of the Minas Gerais native from Três Corações for the “canary team”, which begins at the age of 16, ends successfully.
For the national team, Pelé scored 77 goals in 92 official matches. The CBF counts friendlies against clubs and state teams, increasing the numbers of the ‘King’: 113 games (84 wins, 15 draws and 14 defeats) and 95 goals.
