Africa-Press – Gambia. The International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA) has appointed the Polish Szymon Marciniak, to direct next Sunday, the game of the final of the World Cup in Qatar, between the selections of France and Argentina.
The Polish referee, the first from that European country to referee a world cup final, will be assisted by his compatriots Pawel Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz.
Szymon Marciniak, remember, has refereed two games in this World Cup, both involving the finalists (France/Denmark 2-1) in the group stage and (Argentina-Australia 2-1) for the round of 16.
The Brazilian Raphael Claus will be the fourth referee, while his compatriot Bruno Pires is the Video Referee (VAR) chosen by the highest body of world football.
Meanwhile, for Saturday’s third-place match between Morocco and Croatia, FIFA appointed the trio of referees from Qatar, led by Abdularhman Al Jassim, assisted by Taleb Al Marri and Saoul Ahmed Almaqaleh.
