Foni Kansala Lawmaker Opposes Resignation Calls

Africa-Press – Gambia. The National Assembly Member for Foni Kansala, Almameh Gibba, has warned against any move by Police Prosecutor and Anti-Corruption Commission nominee Almameh James Manga to resign amid corruption allegations currently under public scrutiny.

Speaking in reaction to growing calls for Manga’s resignation should the allegations be substantiated, the lawmaker said he and residents of the Foni region would strongly oppose any resignation linked to what he described as unproven claims.

“We are fully aware of the narratives, alleged deals and so-called advisers being mentioned, yet none of these detracts from the facts,” Gibba stated.

He argued that Manga’s record of service as a senior law enforcement officer reflects dedication and professionalism, adding that such a record should not be undermined by what he termed unfounded allegations or external narratives.

The Foni Kansala representative further said he would call on families and supporters across Foni and beyond to reconsider their support if any resignation were contemplated, urging Manga to remain steadfast in national service.

Gibba also maintained that Manga’s nomination remains valid and confirmed, noting that the nominee is awaiting an official appointment letter to formally assume duties at the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Almameh James Manga is currently facing allegations of bribery and corruption linked to a disputed land transaction.
