Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) have apprehended a suspected armed robber in Kuntaur, Fula Kunda, following a violent robbery on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.

According to GAF, a soldier on official leave alerted the Laminkoto Military Base after hearing gunshots in the area around 3:00 a.m. In response, military personnel, led by Major Malick Boye, were promptly deployed to the scene in the Central River Region South.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the soldiers were able to apprehend one Musa Njie, a native of Totten village, after a pursuit. He was found in possession of a locally made gun and a quantity of suspected cannabis sativa,” the Armed Forces stated.

The robbery targeted local businessman Alagie Kawsu Kebba Jaiteh, who reportedly sustained severe injuries, including two broken teeth, after the assailants stole his safe.

The suspect has been handed over to Kuntaur Police for further investigation and prosecution.

“The timely military response led to the recovery of the alleged weapon and illicit substances. The Gambia Armed Forces continue investigations to apprehend the remaining suspects and locate the stolen safe,” the statement concluded.
