Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Basketball Association (GBA) has launched a National Youth Programme aimed at developing young basketball talent across the country through engagement with local academies and communities.
The initiative will involve youth coordinators touring key مناطق nationwide to conduct training sessions, mentorship and competitive activities designed to nurture emerging players. It focuses on grassroots development, skills acquisition and promoting excellence among young athletes both on and off the court.
The programme is led by Youth Coordinators Coach Kebba Faal and Coach Brian Kamara, who are tasked with strengthening the foundation of basketball in The Gambia through structured coaching and modern training techniques.
The activities are scheduled to run from April 13 to April 25, with sessions starting at 16:30 GMT at venues including Kotu, Brikama, Lamin and Banjul.
The programme will conclude with a “Champions of Champions” event in the West, featuring 3×3 and one-on-one competitions to showcase outstanding young talents.
