There is gross abuse of the diplomatic passport privilege in Gambia. Diplomatic passport eligibility is limited to the very few who’re involved in promoting Gambia’s interest in the international community. These special passports carry Gambia’s prestige behind them and deserve respect; not wholesale sales to friends, their families and those who can afford them. And more importantly, the passports are NOT for sale to the highest bidder 19 pages of issued diplomatic passports, in the short space of three years, is not only more than borderline excessive, it’s criminal abuse of state property. The only few people eligible to obtain Gambia’s diplomatic passport are the senior diplomatic corps, especially, those selected as Consuls in various countries and cabinet ministers. The families of those listed are ineligible for the valued document, because they do not speak for or represent Gambia. And even if Gambia had a Consular representative in each of the 196 countries in the world, which we don’t, the number of diplomatic passports eligible for issue should NOT exceed 250 in total. What is going on in Gambia cheapens the country’s prestige abroad, it’s abuse, it’s criminal and it’s a perfect example of state corruption. You inherited a huge problem and made it far worst
