Africa-Press – Gambia. Gambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, Sering Modou Njie, and France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, have reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties for the mutual benefit of their citizens.
The reaffirmation was made during Minister Njie’s official visit to the Quai d’Orsay, the headquarters of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in Paris.
Both ministers underscored their determination to deepen the long-standing friendship between The Gambia and France. They noted that bilateral relations have gained renewed momentum since The Gambia’s return to democratic governance in 2017.
Discussions during the meeting also focused on key international issues, including shared commitments to peace, democracy, climate action, and marine conservation.
According to a statement from The Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks highlighted France’s continued support to The Gambia since 2018, particularly through cooperation projects in water management, agriculture, biodiversity protection, and resource mobilization.
“They discussed France’s concrete support for The Gambia since 2018, particularly through projects in the areas of water, agriculture, biodiversity, and resource mobilization,” Gambia’s Foreign Ministry stated.
