Gambia hosts Africa Continental Workers’ Sports

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia through the National Inter-Departmental Sports Association (NISA) in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) hosted the 7th edition of the African Continental L’OSTA Congress and Championship and Workers’ Sports for Africa known as the Afrisports 2023 in partnership with the L’organisation Sportif Travilists Africa (L’osta).

The activity (“AFRISPORTS Banjul 2023”) brought together various workers from many African countries in Banjul.

Speaking at the congress held at the Atlantic Hotel in Banjul on Wednesday, NISA President, Saikou B. Jarju, noted that the Continental L’OSTA Congress and championship Afrisports Banjul 2023 which is the African Workers’ Sports cup would kick off on 9th of March at the Arch 22 in Banjul.

He thanked President Adama Barrow for his support towards the possible hosting of 20 African countries.

He mentioned that six disciplines would be played, such as fustal (six aside), football (eleven aside), volleyball, handball, petangue or bull and the cross or walk for health.

However, he disclosed that NISA could not do it alone and had to seek the support and collaboration of all stakeholders including the media and sponsors.

He said the occasion would be of economic and social benefits to The Gambia.
