Africa-Press – Gambia. Following their remarkable performance at the recently concluded West African Food Festival (WAFFEST) 2025 in Accra, Ghana, members of the Gambia Chefs Association have embarked on a two-week International Culinary Exposure program in China. The visit comes through a special invitation from the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

The delegation is led by the association’s president, Chef Haruna Musa Darboe, accompanied by three other professional chefs representing The Gambia on the global stage. As part of their engagement, the team joined other international participants at the opening ceremony of the Guangxi International Business Vocational College, where they showcased Gambian cuisine and culinary skills.

The program aims to broaden professional knowledge, inspire innovation, and strengthen collaborations within the culinary industry across continents.

Expressing gratitude during the event, Chef Darboe thanked the Chinese government for offering the chefs this exceptional opportunity to enhance their expertise. He pledged that the skills and techniques acquired would be shared with colleagues back home to support the continued growth of the culinary profession in The Gambia.
