Africa-Press – Gambia. GAP endorses GDC’s Kandeh Gambia Action Party has on Sunday endorsed Mamma Kandeh, presidential candidate for the Gambia Democratic Congress, GDC. The two parties formally signed the agreement as the GDC starts its nationwide presidential campaign beginning in the North bank Region.

The nomination of GDC’s Alieu Sowe was rejected by the IEC for “forgery on nomination form.” GAP denied the electoral body’s fraud claims and submitted an appeal against their rejection.

However, IEC rejected all appeals. GAP is the first party to endorse GDC after the Jammeh-backed faction of the APRC, known as the No Alliance Movement, NAM.

GAP recently suspended its founding leader Musa Batchilly, who endorsed the candidacy of President Adama Barrow ahead of the nominations. His suspension is pending impeachment, GAP announced.
