Africa-Press – Gambia. The newly elected executive committee of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) recently called on President Adama Barrow State House to introduce the new leadership to the Gambian leader following a resounding win in August’s Elective Congress.

President Barrow congratulated the executive for securing a new mandate, noting that stakeholders gave them a fresh mandate because they have seen and are satisfied with the tremendous achievements registered in Gambian football in the last few years.

He said anywhere he now travels to all his African presidential counterparts tell him Gambia’s achievements in football, citing similar encounters with the Presidents of Ghana, South Africa, and Guinea Bissau.

President Barrow expressed delight with the achievements and enjoined the GFF leadership to remain committed to their development agenda, especially the plans to create a professional league by the season 2025/26, which he noted will help create employment opportunities in the sector. He also assured them of his government’s continued funding of football.

The GFF leadership, which includes the President, his Vice Presidents, and the rest of his executive, thanked the Barrow administration for the tremendous support it continues to give to the Federation, which they noted played a huge role in ensuring qualification to the country first AFCON in Cameroon.

They also informed the President that the Football House is very committed to ensuring qualification for the 2023 AFCON and the 2026 World Cup. The delegations to No.1 Marina Parade also include the General Secretary of the GFF, Mr. Lamin M. Jassey, who represented the Secretariat.
