Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Football Federation has released the playoff format and fixtures for promotion to the national second division next season for teams in the Greater Banjul Area and the provinces of Gambia.
The GFF stated that in the Greater Banjul Area, Ali Sowe FC of Banjul has been drawn against the West Coast champions, Sibanor United. At the same time, Kanifing East, who finished fourth from bottom in the second tier, will play against the Kanifing champions to confirm their status or otherwise in the division.
The GFF outlined that ASM Athletic won the Kanifing third division last weekend, but there is a protest against them by Universal Sporting Boys for allegedly using an ineligible player. “The verdict is yet to be announced.”
“Both matches will be played on Saturday, 26th July 2025, at the Live Your Dreams Sports Academy in Basori and Kabekel,” the GFF confirmed.
The country’s football body added that in the playoffs for teams from the province of Gambia, the three regional champions of CRR, LRR, and NBR will all play each other, and the top two teams will qualify for the second division.
“AJ Soccer, the LRR champions, will lock horns with Niani FC of CRR in the first game, with the latter facing North Star FC of NBR in the second encounter before the league format wraps up with a match between North Star FC and AJ Soccer FC,” the GFF stated.
