Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Football Federation’s (GFF) Women’s Second Division promotion playoffs got underway on Friday at the Soma Mini Stadium, marking the start of an exciting battle for spots in the national second-tier league.
The opening fixture saw Ndim’s FC and Star Academy lock horns in a tightly contested encounter that ended in a goalless draw. Both sides displayed resilience and determination throughout regulation time, but neither managed to break the deadlock.
In a separate playoff fixture held on Saturday, Rakie FC secured promotion to the Women’s Second Division after an emphatic 3-0 victory over Scanaid in the Greater Banjul final at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Yundum.
Naffisatou Jarju put the KM champions ahead in the 38th minute with a composed finish. Rakie FC continued their dominance in the second half, with Adama Camara and Jainaba Trawally adding two more goals to seal the win and confirm their place in the second division.
The playoffs continue as regional women’s teams vie for a place in the GFF Women’s Division Two League.
