Africa-Press – Gambia. The leader and deputy leader of the Golden Era Party (GEP), Saikou Sawo and Nenneh Cheyassin Secka, on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Ousainu Darboe, leader and secretary-general of the United Democratic Party (UDP), at his residence in Pipeline.
Following the visit, the GEP duo released a statement on Sawo’s Facebook page, describing the meeting as a profound honor.
“GEP had the profound honor of meeting Hon. Ousainu Darboe to pay respect to a man whose influence on our national journey is both distinguished and enduring. His life’s work reflects uncommon integrity, steadfast courage, and a devotion to The Gambia that has guided this nation through some of its most defining moments,” the statement read.
The party leaders also highlighted Darboe’s contributions to justice, public service, and principled leadership, noting that his legacy continues to inspire generations.
“His contributions to justice, public service, and principled leadership have shaped generations and set a standard that continues to inspire. With deep humility, we salute Hon. Darboe for a lifetime of extraordinary service, noble sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the future of our country,” the statement concluded.
