Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia’s Minister of Information, Media, and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, has pledged that the long-anticipated Nusrat–Bundung road—an important link to the Bundung hospital—will soon move to construction. He made the remarks during an appearance on the radio program Coffee Time.
Dr. Ceesay said the project is part of a broader government push to expand the country’s road network, noting that more than 1,300 kilometers of new roads have been built in under two years. “We will construct the roads,” he said. “Like I said, the government has constructed over 1,300 km of roads in just less than a couple of years.”
He pointed to several recently completed projects, including the main Bundung road, the Safideen road, and the Sukuta–Brufut highway. “Bundung, you remember the main Bundung road was in a terrible state,” he said. “We’ve built it. The Safideen road, we’ve built it. Now they are benefiting from it.”
Dr. Ceesay used the interview to urge Gambians to support President Adama Barrow’s bid for re-election in 2026, arguing that continued political stability would allow the administration to advance its infrastructure agenda. “Every Gambian should make it a duty, a jihad, to ensure the president is reelected in 2026 to continue,” he said.
He added that infrastructure remains among the administration’s highest priorities, alongside institutional reforms and improved governance tools. “The president has three eyes as his priority. Infrastructure, institutions, and instruments,” he said.
