Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Police Force (GPF), through its International Affairs Unit, has concluded a three-week intensive pre-deployment training for officers cleared by the United Nations Selection Assistance and Assessment Team (SAAT) for upcoming peacekeeping operations.
The training, which began on 4th August 2025, was coordinated by the Peace Support Office. In a press release issued on 25th August via the GPF’s official website, Officer Commanding the Peace Support Office, CSP Jerreh Sambou, highlighted the importance of the program and urged participants to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the course. He noted that the training was based on the United Nations Core Pre-Deployment Training Materials (CPTM) and Specialized Training Materials (STM).
Commander of the Police Training School, ACP Lamin Manka, also addressed the participants, reminding them of the values expected of every peacekeeper. He emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and respect for their contingent commander throughout their mission.
The statement concluded with remarks from Commissioner Famara Jobarteh, who praised both the facilitators and participants for their dedication. He expressed confidence that the skills and knowledge acquired would be effectively applied in the field.
“This milestone reflects the Gambia Police Force’s continued resolve to strengthen its capacity for international peacekeeping and contribute to global peace and security,” the release stated.
