Africa-Press – Gambia. Gambia Senior Secondary School (GSSS) has graduated over 700 students from a range of disciplines in its 66th Speech and Prize Giving Ceremony held at Gambia High School grounds in Banjul.

Principal Momodou Baba Jallow praised Gambia High for its continued excellence, highlighting its status as one of the country’s leading schools.

“This achievement is a direct result of our commitment to providing quality education, guided by a well-structured roadmap and strategies that align with our mission and vision,” he explained.

Mr. Jallow called on parents to stay actively involved in their children’s education, stressing that parental engagement plays a crucial role in students’ academic success.

“When parents participate in their children’s education, students tend to perform better academically, achieve higher test scores, and maintain better attendance. Moreover, such involvement fosters self-confidence, motivation, and positive relationships between students, teachers, and peers,” he said.

Through the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), Mr. Jallow reiterated his message, emphasizing that parental involvement contributes not only to academic achievement but also to social development.

Guest speaker Bai Madi Ceesay delivered an inspiring address, urging graduates to understand that success isn’t solely defined by grades, exams, or certificates. Instead, he encouraged them to focus on how they handle failure, treat others, overcome obstacles, and stay true to themselves in a constantly evolving world.

“When you step beyond these gates today, your success won’t be measured by test scores but by your ability to face adversity, maintain your integrity, and build meaningful connections with others,” Ceesay said.

He reminded graduates that many people today pursue success without strong values, chasing status, wealth, or popularity at any cost. “True success isn’t what you accumulate, but what you build and how you go about building it,” he stated.

With the world filled with distractions and moral dilemmas, Ceesay urged the graduates to hold firm to their values and always choose the right path, even if it’s the more challenging one.

“Let your values guide your decisions. Don’t just chase a life that looks good. Be bold enough to dream, and brave enough to return and build something meaningful. You will face setbacks and self-doubt, but never forget that this country needs you. We are counting on you to rise with honor, humility, and purpose,” he concluded.
