Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC) has been honored as the Best Road Transportation Company in West Africa at the 8th West Africa Travel Expo held in Accra, Ghana.
The prestigious award was presented on Friday, 27th June 2025, during a formal ceremony at the Accra City Hotel. The recognition highlights GTSC’s outstanding contribution to ensuring seamless and reliable cross-border travel throughout the region.
In celebration of the achievement, GTSC hosted a press briefing on Friday, 4th July 2025, where company representatives expressed heartfelt gratitude to their customers, staff, and partners, crediting them for the company’s success.
The annual West Africa Travel Expo, organized by Akwaaba African Travel Market in partnership with the ECOWAS Commission, Ghana Tourism Authority, and Africa Travel Quarterly Magazine, recognized cross-border public transport operators for the first time this year—a milestone proudly led by GTSC.
At the briefing, GTSC Managing Director, Seedy Kanyi, described the award as a “symbol of our commitment to excellence, innovation, and regional integration.” He noted that the company’s success stems from a strategic focus on growth, digital transformation, and enhancing customer experience.
“The Expo celebrates travel and tour operators that are champions and enablers of free movement of people and goods in West Africa to actualize the aspirations of the ECOWAS free movement protocol,” he stated.
MD Kanyi reflected on GTSC’s transformational journey in building a robust and dependable transport network serving both national and regional passengers. He also acknowledged the vital support from The Gambia’s Office of the President and the Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure, emphasizing their role in policy support, infrastructure development, and collaboration.
“To our passengers, thank you for your loyalty and trust. We remain committed to keeping you safe, comfortable, and connected,” he affirmed, reiterating GTSC’s commitment to continuous innovation and proudly representing The Gambia.
Amadou Drammeh, GTSC Director of Traffic Operations, highlighted that the accolade reinforces the company’s leadership in regional road transport and its dedication to providing safe, reliable, and accessible travel services. He emphasized that the award enhances GTSC’s brand credibility, motivates staff, and reflects strong customer patronage.
“GTSC extends sincere appreciation to its board, management, and staff for their hard work and dedication that made the milestone possible,” he said.
Famara Fofana, Senior Corporate Affairs Manager at the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC), speaking as a partner institution, congratulated GTSC on the accolade and commended its delivery of high-quality, affordable transport services. He pledged ongoing support and encouraged the company to maintain excellence in service delivery.

The West Africa Travel Expo aims to promote growth in travel and tourism across West Africa by facilitating easier access between towns and cities, streamlining airport and border processes, standardizing tourism facilities, and showcasing skilled, professional service providers to the global market.
