Africa-Press – Gambia. In its quest to continue building the capacities of its stakeholders, the Gambia Wrestling Association (GWA) in partnership with the Gambia Red Cross Society (GRCS) is jeering up for a day long basic first aid training for wrestling Coaches and Referees slated for Sunday 11th September 2022.

The training, which is expected to bring together 50 participants, will be held at the President International Awards Scheme (PIA) Hall, starting at 10am. The participants are set to be introduced to basic first aid amongst others.

The Gambia Wrestling Association under the leadership of President Serign Modou Faye attached paramount importance to the health of the wrestlers especially during wrestling bouts.

According to the Wrestling Association, the pilot phase of the training will concentrate on equipping the Coaches and Referees with the basics of First Aid, as they are always the closest to the wrestlers during bouts. The training is expected to give referees and coaches the tools to prevent situations from becoming worse.

“Because in some situations if a patient doesn’t receive basic first aid care immediately their situation will deteriorate often rapidly. As such a trained person is capable of serving a life and can make a world of difference.”
