Africa-Press – Gambia. Hon. Sulayman Jammeh, National Assembly Member for Bundung-Ka Kunda Constituency together with his partners Tijan Touray and Secretary General of the Serrekunda East Committee donated D40, 000 amongst thirteen teams participating in the ongoing Serrekunda East Nawettan tournament.
The gesture made by Hon. Jammeh and his partners held a ceremony at Taku Leggaye Skills Centre in Bundung.
Hon. Jammeh contributed D26, 000, while his close associate Mr. Tijan Touray contributed D13, 000 and the Secretary General of the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation contributed D1, 000, making it a total of D40, 000.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Sulayman Jammeh, NAM for Bundung-Ka Kunda stated that the contribution aims to raise more funds and provide an initial payment of D2, 000 to each of the nawettan teams in Bundung.
He added that the rest of the money from the D40, 000 will be used to generate more funds for the teams who have already commenced the ongoing nawettan tournament in Serrekunda East.
“There are plans to engage Gambian Rap Superstar ST, the Gambian Dream to venture into a fund-raising initiative, which will generate more revenue for the football teams in Bundung.”
For his part, Modou Yusupha Cham, president of SESDO, informed the gathering that the IGP highlighted that whenever Nawettan starts violence goes down in the country.
Meanwhile, donations are being solicited through Hon. Sulayman Jammeh and the executive member of SESDO, Malick Jarju at 5939070. Mr Jarju also resides in Bundung.
