Africa-Press – Gambia. Former President Yahya Jammeh has offered a New Year prayer for The Gambia and its people, extending goodwill across religious and political divides as the country prepares to enter 2026.
In an audio message circulating on social media, Jammeh—who has been living in exile since his defeat in the 2016 presidential election—addressed Gambians at home and abroad, invoking blessings for peace, prosperity, and national well-being.
“As we enter the new year, my family and everybody, and my greater family, the APRC, Gambian people, everybody, irrespective of your party affiliation, irrespective of your beliefs, may the Almighty Allah grant us the best of this, may the beginning of the best of our lives begin with 2026.”
Jammeh prayed for achievement, peace, prosperity, and happiness for all Gambians, saying, “May the Almighty Allah grant us success in all good things that we do for the benefit of the world, for the benefit of humanity, and for the sake of worshipping the Almighty Allah.
He concluded the prayer by asking Allah to accord Gambians gratefulness, appreciation, and love, and to bestow upon them the best of everything in this world and the hereafter.
“May the Almighty Allah grant us in our hearts gratefulness, appreciation, and love; may the Almighty Allah give us the best of everything in this world; and in the hereafter grant us the highest Jannah”, he said.
