Jammeh Pardons Expelled APRC Members and Warns

Africa-Press – Gambia. Former President Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh has announced a general pardon for all individuals expelled from the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) under his directives. The decision, effective October 24, 2025, was delivered in an audio message addressed to APRC supporters.

In his statement, Jammeh declared that all members previously removed from the party on his orders have been fully reinstated and forgiven.

“On this Friday, I have pardoned all those people who were expelled by me. By my instructions, they have all been forgiven. They are back in the APRC,” he said.

However, Jammeh clarified that the pardon applies only to those he personally expelled, not to individuals who voluntarily resigned from the party.

“Those who resigned from the party—I’m not responsible. I didn’t kick anybody out. But the door remains open for anyone who wishes to return,” he added.

The former president also used the occasion to caution party members against insults, false accusations, and internal divisions, describing such behavior as unacceptable and contrary to Islamic values.

“Insulting each other in any form is unacceptable and un-Islamic. If I pardon somebody today and tomorrow you insult, you are going home permanently,” Jammeh warned.

He further emphasized that the party should no longer focus on positions but rather on grassroots mobilization and unity. “As from now, the party is not about positions. It is the number of people you can bring and mobilize that is what matters,” he said.

Jammeh concluded by calling on APRC members at home and abroad to reconcile and work together as one united family to strengthen the party’s foundation. “I want to make sure that we reconcile as a family. Make it known to everybody both at home and in the diaspora,” he said.
