Kemo Bojang Affirms UMC UDP Collaboration

Africa-Press – Gambia. Kemo Bojang, spokesperson for the Unite Movement for Change (UMC), has affirmed that political differences will not prevent the movement from collaborating with any political party—including the United Democratic Party (UDP)—if Gambians desire a united front.

Bojang emphasized the importance of unity among opposition parties ahead of the 2026 elections, noting that the UMC remains open to working with all political groups that share its vision for national cohesion and meaningful reform.

“Political differences won’t stop UMC from working with UDP, but the decision will be up to the movement when the right time comes, and when the conversation begins, there will be people who will be tasked to negotiate on behalf of the movement, and I am confident that they’ll do what is best for the country if we ever get to that state,” he said.

He acknowledged that some supporters of the United Democratic Party (UDP) have expressed disappointment over the formation of the Unite Movement for Change (UMC), but noted that such reactions are a natural part of the political process.

Bojang reaffirmed UMC’s respect for the UDP, recognizing its pivotal role in mentoring many of their members and shaping their political journeys.

“Nothing will ever make us ever disrespect the UDP. Nothing will ever make us say anything negative about the party leader or the institution we came from,” he said.

He further emphasized that the UMC remains committed to inclusivity and stands ready to collaborate with any political group—regardless of size—in pursuit of its vision for a united Gambia.

He added that the movement seeks to engage citizens from all generations to take an active role in governance.

“Even if it’s a party with 100 people, we believe that you are part of this change; we are an umbrella that believes that a united Gambia is possible,” he stated.

Bojang further explained that the UMC is currently conducting a nationwide outreach to the media and key stakeholders to promote its message of inclusivity, national identity, and collaborative governance—positioning the movement as a credible alternative in Gambian politics.
