Africa-Press – Gambia. Le Jumbo has successfully graduated 175 mentees from its mentorship program, cohort 0.4, in a ceremony held at SBEC International School, attended by business stakeholders and the Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) of the Ministry of Trade.
The event, themed “Mastering the Entrepreneurship Mindset for Sustainable Impact in The Gambia”, encouraged mentees to apply the skills acquired for personal growth and national development.
Lamin Dibba, Co-founder of Le Jumbo, highlighted the four-year success of the program, citing tangible results from previous cohorts. “Our goal is to transform the Gambia’s business sector by equipping young entrepreneurs with the tools to drive growth,” he said.
Mariama Fofana, DPS at the Ministry of Trade, praised Le Jumbo’s efforts and reaffirmed the ministry’s support for mentorship initiatives. She noted that entrepreneurship is a key driver of innovation and confirmed that policies are being reviewed to improve the business environment. “Empowering young entrepreneurs is a top priority for the ministry,” Fofana added.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of honesty, partnership, self-belief, and value creation in business. Abdou S. Hydara, Supreme Chairman of Le Jumbo, urged mentees to leverage their skills for both personal advancement and national development.
Muhammad Lamin Jawo, CEO of Le Jumbo, said the training equips participants with the knowledge needed for future success and encourages them to act on their learnings to support national progress.
Other speakers included Babucarr Saho, Deputy CEO of the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who stressed the importance of understanding income status before launching a business, and Muhammad Ngallan, President of the Gambia University Students Union, who praised the partnership between the Union and Le Jumbo and pledged to continue supporting young entrepreneurs.
Mentor Muhammad Danso highlighted value creation in businesses and communities, while Le Jumbo coordinator Ida Mendy emphasized self-belief and determination as key factors for success, drawing from her own entrepreneurial experience.
Le Jumbo’s mentorship program continues to focus on empowering young entrepreneurs and fostering sustainable development across The Gambia.
