Mai Fatty Challenges Corruption Allegations, Demands Evidence

Africa-Press – Gambia. Former Interior Minister Ahmed Mai Fatty has strongly dismissed claims that he was removed from office due to corruption, challenging his critics to produce evidence to substantiate their allegations.

Speaking on Coffee Time with Peter Gomez, Fatty addressed a listener’s question regarding persistent accusations against him. He firmly rejected the claims, insisting that no credible proof has ever been presented.

“I have challenged the whole world to come out with evidence so that I can be prosecuted for corruption. No one has come forward,” Fatty declared. “So, if you do not have the evidence, for God’s sake, can you shut up?”

He warned against spreading unverified claims, noting that such actions amount to defamation. “Do not try to damage, try to defame me by hiding behind people saying, people say. What do you say? People say, people must prove.”

He emphasized that allegations without evidence are not only insufficient but also damaging and defamatory: “It is a shame for a Gambian to stand and accuse another Gambian of corruption without evidence.”

Fatty further questioned the selective nature of the accusations, arguing that many other government officials have been relieved of their posts without similar allegations being made against them.

“Why must we keep saying Mai Fatty alone? What about the rest? I think it is unfair, it is unjust, I think it is vindictive, and I think it is selective,” he stressed.

Concluding his remarks, Fatty reiterated that in the absence of evidence, any accusation against him remains baseless. “Without proof, it is simply a lie—and people will see it as such,” he stressed.
