Africa-Press – Gambia. The Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick Lowe, has been honored with the WASMA 2025 Public Service Excellence Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to public service and community development.

In her acceptance remarks, Mayor Lowe expressed gratitude and humility, dedicating the award to the people of Banjul and The Gambia. She described the recognition as a collective achievement that reflects the resilience, unity, and hard work of the citizens she serves. “This recognition is not a personal accolade but a testament to the collective spirit, resilience, and hard work of the entire city of Banjul and The Gambia,” she said.

The award ceremony was held on December 15 at the OIC Conference Centre in Banjul and brought together distinguished guests from across The Gambia, Africa, Europe, and the United States. Mayor Lowe was recognized alongside other prominent award recipients, including Her Excellency First Lady Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow.

During the event, Mayor Lowe underscored the role of effective communication and responsible use of social media in driving development and civic engagement. She also conveyed her appreciation to Ambassador Basamba Drammeh, President of WASMA 2025, and the award jury for recognizing and validating her work.

“This award reaffirms my unwavering commitment to fostering socio-economic development, empowering our youth and women, and continuing to serve with integrity and dedication,” Mayor Lowe stated. Addressing the people of Banjul and her supporters, she added that the honor strengthens her resolve to serve more effectively, noting that collective efforts would continue to shape a more inclusive, prosperous, and vibrant future for the city and the nation.”To the people of Banjul and all my supporters: This honour fuels my resolve to serve you even better.
