Africa-Press – Gambia. The Inspector General of The Police Force Seedy Muctar Touray was appointed to the position of Inspector General on 15th March 2024. Before his appointment, IGP Touray served as Director General of The Gambia Immigration Department. The newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) for The Gambia Police Force is a seasoned professional with over three decades of experience in law enforcement, policy formulation, and leadership. Born on September 24, 1970, in Pirang Village, Kombo East District, West Coast Region of The Gambia. IGP Touray has dedicated his career to serving his nation with distinction.

IGP Touray’s educational background and advanced professional training in management and leadership underscores his commitment to excellence. He has also completed specialised courses in Aviation Security, Crisis Management, and International Humanitarian Law, demonstrating his ongoing dedication to professional development.

Throughout his career in The Gambia Immigration Department, IGP Touray held various leadership positions, including Deputy Director General and Director General respectively. Under his stewardship, he implemented institutional reforms, bolstered border management and security, and played a pivotal role in drafting and ratifying crucial migration management policies and legislation.

Mr Touray’s commitment to public service extends beyond national borders, as evidenced by his roles in United Nations missions. As Head of the Immigration & Border Security Section for the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL/UNPOL), IGP Touray introduced modern naturalisation procedures, ensured compliance with international protocols, and strengthened partnerships with border communities.
