Africa-Press – Gambia. The Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy has entered into strategic agreements with Bibimoney UK, GAMPOST, and Nifty ICT Solutions to expand and modernize financial and postal services in The Gambia.
The partnership aims to deliver affordable and accessible services nationwide while accelerating the country’s digital transformation agenda.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Lamin Jabbi, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a cashless, digitally driven economy, “where all citizens can benefit from the right digital infrastructure and applications paving the way for inclusive financial services.”
Dr. Abdoulie Sirreh Jallow, First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank and Chairman of the GAMPOST Board of Directors, described the collaboration as a significant milestone for the Gambia Postal Services Corporation.
“The traditional product of postal operators has been rendered obsolete by technological advancement, compelling operators to diversify products as a sure way of remaining in business,” he said.
He noted that the mobile wallet partnership with Bibimoney and Nifty will be a transformative step for the Gambia Postal Services Corporation, positioning it to adapt and thrive in the evolving digital landscape.
Serign Modou Bah, Director of Telecommunications and Postal Services, stressed that the initiative aligns with the National Development Agenda, promising to significantly enhance nationwide service delivery and empower citizens to fully participate in and benefit from the digital economy.
Nifty ICT Solutions CEO Jalamang Jobarteh commended the ministry for fostering a supportive environment for innovation and emphasized the project’s potential to bring meaningful change, particularly to rural communities.
According to the ministry, the collaboration embodies a shared commitment to leveraging innovation for national progress, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the digital era. “This initiative will be a game-changer for the digital, postal, and financial sectors.
