Africa-Press – Gambia. Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention acting director Dr Ahmed Ogwell said he had been “mistreated at Frankfurt Airport by immigration personnel who imagine I want to stay back illegally”.
“I’m happier and safer back home in Africa. They invite you then mistreat you,” he said in a tweet on October 15 that sparked outrage on social media. “It’s time to stay away from non-friendly territories.”
When contacted about the incident, Ogwell declined to provide more details. “The matter is with authorities now,” he said. “So, no further comments on this.”
