National Assembly Committee to Hold Hearings on Jammeh Assets

Africa-Press – Gambia. The National Assembly has announced that its Special Select Committee, mandated to investigate the sale and disposal of assets linked to former President Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh, will commence public hearings on Monday, 14th July 2025.

According to an official press release from the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, the committee was established following recommendations from the Commission of Inquiry into the financial activities of public bodies, enterprises, and offices connected to former President Jammeh.“The Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly wishes to inform the general public that the Special Select Committee established to inquire into the sale and disposal of assets identified by the Commission of Inquiry into the financial activities of public bodies, enterprises, and offices in connection with former President Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh and connected matters shall commence public hearings on Monday, 14th July 2025,” the statement said.

Members of the public attending the sessions are reminded to adhere to the prescribed dress code, which requires traditional attire, and to maintain silence throughout the proceedings.

“The public is reminded to comply with the standard dress code (traditional suit) and observe the silence rule during the hearing,” the statement said.

Media organizations planning to cover the hearings are requested to coordinate with the National Assembly ICT & Communications Unit to obtain live feeds and related materials.
