National Women’S Team Begins Training Ahead of Kenya Qualifier

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia National Women’s team has begun training in preparation for its crucial qualifying match against Kenya for the African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).

The squad is set to train at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum starting Monday as they gear up for the final qualifying round scheduled for October.

According to the Gambia Football Federation, head coach Mariama Bom Sowe aims to lead the team to its first-ever AWCON qualification by overcoming the East African side.

The Gambia advanced to this stage after a convincing 4-1 aggregate win over Niger in the previous round.

A successful qualification would mark a historic milestone for Gambian women’s football, as the senior national team has never before reached this stage in international competition.
